Mountain travel information : The motto for the weekend: Do not forget your sunscreen and sunglasses! The intense solar radiation and warm temperatures forecasted for the next few days will have a significant effect on the day star facing slopes. It will be possible to trigger small wet snow avalanches on the steepest slopes. The snow surface will refreeze overnight to stabilize again. This will create spring ski conditions, the kind that we should not underestimate because the consequence of sliding down and losing control over rocks and trees could be pretty bad.

Avalanche activity : No recent avalanche activity has been observed during our recent field work. Your observations can help us to improve this bulletin. (Please contact us by email or telephone at 418-763-7791 #223)

Snowpack : The snow that fell earlier this week is still light and dry on slopes sheltered from the sun. The SE-S-SW slopes that baked on Thursday and Friday gradually melted at the surface and refroze overnight. This melt-freeze cycle will create spring skiing conditions for the weekend.

Alpine weather : The strong high pressure ridge is centering itself over the Gaspé region, producing fine weather. Temperatures will reach a maximum of 8°C Sunday, but the nights will cool down to -15°C. Winds will blow lightly from the N and NW which will have little cooling effect on the surface. The S slopes will cook! To see the complete forecast.
